Indian Bhaji (Onion Fritters)

Delicious pancakes straight from India.

Ingredients

  • Wheat flour – 130 g
  • Eggs – 2 pieces
  • Water – 3 tablespoons
  • Baking powder – 2 teaspoons
  • Coriander – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Tomato sauce – 1 cup
  • Salt – to taste
  • Pepper – to taste
  • Onions – 4 pieces

Preparation

  1. Mix the flour with the baking powder and spices, add salt, eggs, and water, beat until you get a thick, smooth batter. Slice the onions into thin half-slices and add them to the batter.
  2. Heat a thick layer of oil for deep frying. Spoon the onion batter into the oil and fry until golden brown.
  3. Serve with the sauce poured into a bowl.
