Grilled Sausage Sandwiches with Sauerkraut

It’s time for a grand barbecue feast! Try Kinga’s recipe for grilled sausages in Bavarian buns. This dish includes beer, classic sauerkraut, and the steadfast companion of barbecue meals – pickled cucumbers!


  • Bavarian buns, 4
  • Thuringian sausages, 500 g
  • Onion, 1
  • Beer, 1 liter
  • Olive oil, 1 tablespoon
  • Sauerkraut, 200 g
  • Mustard, 4 tablespoons
  • Pickled cucumber, 4


Step 1: Cook the Sausages Slice the onion into rings. Then pour beer into a pot, add the onion, and bring it to a boil. Once the beer is boiling, add the sausages. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the grill.

Step 2: Grill the Sausages Brush the cooked sausages with olive oil and grill them (about 5 minutes each), until they are golden brown.

Step 3: Prepare the Dish Slice the Bavarian buns lengthwise and fill them with sauerkraut. Finally, place a sausage in the middle of each bun, add mustard, and pickled cucumbers.
