Grilled pizza tastes the best: it has a smoky aroma and always bakes beautifully! It’s worth spending some time making your own dough. Everything else is quick.
Ingredients
Dough:
- Pinch of sugar
- Dry yeast – 7 g
- Water – 440 ml
- All-purpose flour – 500 g
- Olive oil – 3 tablespoons
- Sea salt – 2 teaspoons
Pizza Toppings:
- Garlic cloves – 2 pieces
- Artichoke hearts – 400 g
- Nut mix – 2 tablespoons
- Fresh basil – 5 g
- Baby spinach – 50 g
- Vegan sour cream – 200 g
- Vegan cheese slices – 45 g
Additional:
- All-purpose flour – 20 g
- Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
Preparation
Step 1: Prepare the Starter In a large bowl, mix yeast with warm water and sugar. Set aside for a few minutes to activate.
Step 2: Prepare the Pizza Dough Add the remaining dough ingredients to the starter and mix thoroughly using a wooden spoon.
Step 3: Knead the Dough Knead the pizza dough in a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment or by hand for about 10 minutes. You should get a smooth and uniform dough.
Step 4: Let the Dough Rise Grease a baking sheet with olive oil. Divide the dough into about 4-5 parts, shaping each into a ball. Lightly coat each ball with olive oil and place them on the baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
Cover the dough balls with plastic wrap and let them rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
Step 5: Bake the Pizza Crust and Add Toppings Roll out the risen dough balls one by one on a lightly floured surface to form round discs. Place the discs on the grill rack directly over the fire.
After a minute, flip the partially baked discs using tongs and top them with vegan sour cream, crushed garlic, spinach, and artichokes. Season with salt and pepper, then sprinkle with vegan cheese strips.
Step 6: Grill and Serve the Pizza Close the grill lid and bake the pizza for about 5 minutes until the crust is cooked through and the cheese melts. Before serving, garnish the pizza with fresh basil and nuts.
Tip: You can also prepare the pizza in the oven – in that case, place all the toppings directly on the rolled-out dough and bake for about 7-8 minutes in an oven preheated to 220°C.
