Preparation
Step 1: Prepare Ingredients for Hot Dogs
Cook lentils in water with bay leaf for about 10 minutes until tender. Then drain and discard the bay leaf. Grate the zucchini using a grater with large holes, sprinkle with salt, and set aside on a sieve to drain excess water.
Step 2: Sauté the Ingredients
Finely dice shallot and chop garlic. Heat olive oil in a pan and sauté the onion until translucent. Towards the end, add garlic, tomato paste, and meat seasoning. Sauté for about 1 minute, stirring constantly. Then add the well-drained zucchini and cook the ingredients for about 5 minutes.
Step 3: Prepare the Mixture for Sausages
Add the sautéed ingredients and lentils to a blender and pulse until combined. Then add flour and oat flakes and repeat the process.
Step 4: Chill the Sausages
Let the mixture cool. Then shape it into sausages, wrap them in plastic wrap, and chill for a minimum of 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
Step 5: Grill the Sausages
Unwrap the chilled sausages and grill them after brushing with olive oil.
Step 6: Serve Hot Dogs
Grill the buns until lightly golden. Slice the pickles. Place a sausage in each bun, add pickle slices, fried onions, ketchup, and mustard to each.
