Vegetarian Burgers with Grilled Cheese

Fast food for vegetarians. Perfect meal for any occasion.


Hamburger Buns

  • 250 g halloumi cheese (for grilling)
  • Ajvar (red pepper paste, store-bought or HOMEMADE)
  • Mustard
  • Mayonnaise


  • Lettuce
  • Pineapple
  • Red onion


Prepare the hamburger buns. Place pineapple slices on a heated grill pan and grill for about 7 minutes on each side. Slice the halloumi cheese, coat with olive oil, and grill for about 5 minutes on each side. Halfway through grilling, flip the cheese using a spatula.

Slice the burger buns and brown them at the incision point (e.g., in a toaster or on a grill pan). Spread mustard on the top half, and on the bottom half, spread a thick layer of ajvar mixed with a teaspoon of mayonnaise (you can also add chili to taste). Place lettuce leaves, pineapple slices, halloumi, and red onion on the bottom half of the bun.

Cover with the top half of the bun and serve.
