A delicious and beloved dish in a vegan version.
Ingredients
- Flour – 1.5 cups
- Yeast – 10 grams
- Water – 1 cup
- Sugar – 2 tablespoons
- Oil – 1/4 cup
- Apples – 4 pieces
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Preparation
Dissolve the yeast with a teaspoon of sugar, add 1/3 cup of lukewarm water, mix, sprinkle with a tablespoon of flour, and set aside in a warm place to rise.
Pour the remaining flour with a pinch of salt into a bowl. Add the risen yeast, mix with a wooden spoon while adding oil and the rest of the lukewarm water, add the sugar and knead with diagonal strokes of the wooden spoon for a few minutes. Add the peeled and chopped apples, knead for a moment, cover with a cloth, and set aside in a warm place to double in volume – it’s best to place it in the kitchen next to a pot with something boiling, as the warmth accelerates this process.
Heat a 1/2 cm layer of oil in a frying pan and spoon several oval fritters into the pan. Cover with a lid and fry on medium heat until the bottom is browned and the top is set. Then flip and fry without the lid until done.
Drain the fried fritters on paper towels and roll the hot fritters in powdered sugar on a plate.
