Mango Lassi is a delicious and refreshing traditional Indian drink that has captured taste buds worldwide. This creamy, fruity drink combines the tropical sweetness of ripe mangoes with the rich and tangy flavour of whole milk yoghurt, creating a perfect harmony that is both satisfying and rejuvenating.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup plain whole milk yoghurt
- 1 1/4 cups chopped ripe mango (from 2 small peeled mangoes or 1 large)
- 2/3 cup ice cubes (about 4 large cubes)
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1/8 teaspoon rosewater (optional)
- Ground cardamom, to sprinkle
Method of cooking:
Peel and chop the mango. If using frozen mango, make sure it’s thawed before blending.
Place the yoghurt, chopped mango, ice cubes, honey and rosewater (if using) in a blender.
Blend until smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, add a little water or milk to achieve the desired consistency.
Taste the lassi and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey if necessary.
Pour the lassi into glasses.
Sprinkle a pinch of ground cardamom over each glass for a fragrant finish.
Serve immediately or chill in the fridge for a few minutes before serving to allow the flavours to meld.
