French Toast with Strawberries

A delicious breakfast idea straight from French restaurants.


  • 5 slices of bread (preferably challah or brioche)
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter

For serving:

  • Strawberries
  • 250 ml sour cream (18% fat content)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (optional)


In a deep plate, beat the eggs with milk and sugar using a fork or whisk.

Dip bread slices into the egg mixture, pressing lightly to soak them evenly.

Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the soaked bread slices until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and fry the other side until golden brown as well.

Remove the French toasts from the skillet and place on a plate.

Serve with sliced strawberries, sweetened sour cream, and optionally sprinkle with powdered sugar.
