Caramel-coated apples are a delectable dessert that no one can resist. Handmade, this treat will be appreciated by every sweet tooth.
Ingredients
- Sugar – 2 scant cups
- Food coloring – 1 teaspoon
- Red apples – 4
- Vinegar – 0.5 teaspoon
- Water – 0.5 scant cup
Preparation
Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Insert sticks or skewers into the top where the stem is. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and vinegar. Bring to a boil without stirring the caramel during cooking. Reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes. Towards the end of cooking, add food coloring and gently mix the mixture. Remove the saucepan with caramel from the heat and set aside for a moment to allow all the bubbles formed during cooking to disappear.
Dip each apple on a stick gently into the red caramel, ensuring the caramel completely covers the fruits. Try to coat the apples with the thinnest possible layer of caramel.Place the caramel-coated apples on a layer of wax paper to allow them to harden.
Once the caramel has set, transfer the apples to a plate or tray. You can further decorate them with any toppings of your choice.
