Butter Cake with Plums and Streusel

  • Eggs: 5
  • All-purpose flour: 3 cups
  • Sugar: 1 cup
  • Vanilla sugar for cakes and desserts: 1 packet
  • Lemon zest: 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil: 3/4 cup
  • Baking powder: 2 teaspoons


  • Damson plums: 500 grams
  • Icing sugar for dusting


  • All-purpose flour: 50 grams (approx. 5 tablespoons)
  • Butter: 50 grams
  • Sugar: 50 grams


Preparing the Cake:

  1. Beat the eggs with sugar using a mixer until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the oil and mix on low speed.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and stir the batter with a spoon until combined.
  4. Pour the batter into a baking pan lined with parchment paper.
  5. Pit the plums and place them on the batter, cut side down.

Preparing the Streusel:

  1. Rub the flour, sugar, and butter together with your fingertips to create a crumbly mixture.
  2. Sprinkle the streusel over the top of the cake.
  3. Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Once cooled, dust the cake with icing sugar.
