Mongolian Beef

  • 1 lb. flat iron steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 3 spring onions, cut into 1-inch diagonal slices
  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Method of preparation:

Start by cutting the flat iron steak into thin strips against the grain. This will ensure the meat is tender and cooks evenly.

Heat the coconut oil in a large frying pan or wok over a medium heat. Add the sliced steak to the pan and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes.

Reduce the heat to medium and add the chopped garlic and grated ginger to the skillet. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute, taking care not to burn the garlic.

Add the sauce and simmer: Pour the coconut aminos over the beef and stir to combine. Simmer for a further 2-3 minutes to allow the flavours to meld.

Add the spring onions to the pan and cook for another minute.
