Meat Burgers with Rice and Spinach

Meat Burgers with Rice and Spinach

A simple recipe for perfectly satisfying burgers.

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground meat (e.g., pork, ham, or turkey)
  • 50 g spinach
  • 100 g glutinous rice (1 packet)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Spices: 1 teaspoon sweet paprika, 1 teaspoon turmeric, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1/3 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 egg

Preparation:

Cook the rice in salted water according to package instructions, then drain.

In a pan, sauté diced onion in olive oil until translucent, adding grated garlic towards the end. Add the meat and brown thoroughly, seasoning with salt, pepper, and spices. Stir in the tomato paste and mix well.

If grinding the meat yourself, you can grind it with raw onion and garlic, then sauté everything together in olive oil.

Transfer the meat mixture to a larger bowl, add the cooked rice, and mix thoroughly.

Rinse and dry the spinach, then wilt it in a separate pot (e.g., the one used for rice), stirring until softened. Drain well using a sieve, finely chop on a cutting board, and add to the meat and rice mixture.

Add the egg, mix everything together, and shape into patties, greasing your hands with olive oil. Place the patties on a non-stick pan and cook without additional fat for about 3.5 – 4 minutes on each side, flipping gently.

Enjoy your meat burgers with rice and spinach, a versatile and flavorful meal!
