Western Omelette Quiche

This quiche is perfect for any meal – breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Every bite offers a burst of savoury ham, melted cheese and the fresh flavour of peppers and onions. Feel free to add your own twist with different vegetables, cheeses or meats to suit your taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (9 inch) prepared pie crust
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 2 ½ cups grated mild cheddar cheese
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 4 eggs, whisked
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced (or more to taste)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Method of preparation:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Place the pie crust in a 9″ glass pie dish. Set aside.

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook and stir the diced ham until it no longer looks moist, about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool to room temperature.

In a large bowl, mix together the grated cheese, milk, whisked eggs, diced bell pepper, onion, chopped garlic, black pepper, sugar and salt until well combined.

Stir the cooled ham into the egg mixture.

Pour the mixture into the prepared pie base.

Bake in the preheated oven until the crust is golden, the top is lightly browned and the filling has set, about 1 hour.
