Vegan walnut pate

A delicious vegan pate made with walnuts will be a great idea for breakfast, especially for Easter.


  • Walnuts – 200g
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Onion – 1 piece
  • Garlic – 2 cloves
  • Dried marjoram – 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika – 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce – 5 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice – 4 tablespoons
  • Sun-dried tomatoes – 4 pieces
  • Agar – 1 teaspoon
  • Water – 400ml
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Black pepper – a pinch


Heat olive oil in a pan. Dice the onion fairly finely and sauté until translucent. Finely chop the garlic and add it towards the end of frying the onion in the pan along with marjoram and smoked paprika. Fry everything for about 30 seconds more, being careful not to burn the garlic.

In the blender or food processor, add drained walnuts and all remaining ingredients except water. Blend or process everything thoroughly. Transfer the pate mixture to a saucepan, add water, gently mix, and bring to a boil. Once boiled, remove the pate from heat and adjust seasoning if necessary. Transfer the cooked mixture to a container and let it cool. Refrigerate until firm.
