Exceptionally delicious and delicate dish with a pleasant poppy seed flavor.
Ingredients
- Semolina: 100 g
- Butter: 40 g
- Sugar: 60 g
- Ground almonds: 20 g
- White poppy seeds: 20 g
- Desiccated coconut: 20 g
- Cardamom: a pinch
- Ground nutmeg: a pinch
- Flour: 300 g
- Water: 100 ml
Preparation
- Sift the flour into a bowl.
- Rub in 2 tablespoons of melted butter.
- Gradually pour in water to form a dough.
- Knead for a minute until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and set aside.
- In a pan, melt the remaining butter over low heat. Be careful not to burn it.
- Once warm, add the semolina and increase the heat to medium. Fry, stirring constantly, for 5-10 minutes until the semolina is golden brown.
- Add the remaining ingredients except sugar. Mix well and fry for a minute.
- Remove from heat, add sugar, and let it cool.
- Divide the dough into 13 portions.
- Roll each portion into a 7-centimeter circle.
- Place two tablespoons of the filling on each circle.
- Fold the dough over and seal the edges tightly.
- Fry in deep fat over medium heat until golden brown.
