Ingredients

Dough for Rolls:

  • Bread flour type 750: 500 g
  • Milk: 300 ml
  • Butter: 30 g
  • Fresh yeast: 8 g
  • Sugar: 5 g
  • Salt: 3 g

Additionally:

  • Egg: 1 piece
  • Gouda cheese: 60 g

Filling:

  • Butter: 60 g
  • Garlic bulbs: 6 cloves
  • Parsley: 0.3 bunch

Preparation

Dough for Rolls:

Step 1: Prepare the Yeast In a small bowl, mix the crumbled fresh yeast with 150 ml of milk and sugar. Set aside to let the yeast activate.

Step 2: Combine the Ingredients In a large bowl, pour in the bread flour, then add salt, the rest of the milk, and the yeast mixture. Mix well. After a while, add the cooled, melted butter and start kneading the dough. Through kneading, it should become quite soft and elastic. After a few minutes of kneading, shape it into a ball, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1.5 hours.

Step 3: Divide and Shape the Dough After the specified time, divide the dough into 10 pieces, then shape each piece into balls. Gently flatten each ball. Transfer the rolls to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving a few centimeters of space between them, and cover them with a cloth. Leave them in a warm place to rise again for about 20 minutes.

Filling:

Step 4: Prepare the Filling Put the butter in a small bowl, then peel the garlic. Press the garlic directly into the butter. Finely chop the parsley (leave some for sprinkling over the baked rolls) and add it to the butter mixture. Mix everything well.

Step 5: Fill the Rolls Lightly slice each roll lengthwise, then fill it with the garlic butter. Wash the bowl after filling, then crack an egg into it, beat it with a fork, and brush each roll with it.

Step 6: Bake the Rolls Bake the rolls for about 15 minutes, until they are golden brown. Remove them from the oven, but do not turn off the oven.

Step 7: Grate Cheese and Bake Grate the cheese using a grater with larger holes, then sprinkle it over the rolls. Also, sprinkle them with parsley. Place them in the oven for literally 2 minutes to allow the cheese to melt slightly.

Step 8: Remove the Ready Rolls Once the cheese has lightly melted, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Serve the rolls warm, but not hot. You can easily leave them to cool completely and serve them cold.
