Bum’s Lunch

Bum's Lunch

This recipe is your ticket to a comforting meal that feels like a warm embrace. The tender cubes of steak, the soft, savoury potatoes and the sweet, caramelised onions come together in a symphony of flavours that’s both rustic and delicious. It’s the kind of dish that doesn’t need fancy embellishments, because it’s all about the sheer pleasure of eating.

Ingredients:

  • 4 (4oz) diced steaks
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 teaspoons margarine
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method of preparation:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Place 4 squares of aluminium foil on a flat surface.

Place a steak cube on each piece of foil.

Spread 1 tsp of margarine over each steak and season with salt and pepper.

Place the thinly sliced potatoes on top of the steaks, followed by a few rings of onion.

Season again with salt and pepper to taste.

Fold the foil around the food, sealing the edges to form a parcel.

Place the parcels on a baking tray.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the beef is no longer pink and the potatoes are tender.

Open the parcels carefully, as hot steam will be released.
