Beans prepared this way are a perfect dish if you want a tasty but not fattening dinner. It can also be a great idea for a diet lunch!
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ lbs green beans, trimmed and cut into 2 inch pieces
- 1 ½ cups water
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ¾ teaspoon garlic salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 ½ teaspoons chopped fresh basil
- 2 cups cherry tomato halves
Method of preparation:
Bring the water to a boil in a large pan or saucepan. Add the green beans and cook until tender and crisp, about 5-7 minutes. Drain and set aside.
In the same pan, melt the butter over a medium heat. Stir in the sugar, garlic salt, pepper and chopped fresh basil until well combined.
Add the cooked green beans and cherry tomato halves to the frying pan. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are heated through and begin to soften, about 3-5 minutes.
When the beans and tomatoes are cooked to your liking, remove the pan from the heat.
Serve the Green Beans with Cherry Tomatoes hot as a delicious side dish with your favourite main course.
