Ingredients
Dry Ingredients for the Cake:
- Sugar – 215 g
- Dark chocolate – 100 g
- Instant coffee – 1 tablespoon
- Wheat flour – 400 g
- Baking powder – 8 g
- Baking soda – 1.5 teaspoons
- Salt – 3 g
Wet Ingredients for the Cake:
- Bananas – 4 pieces
- Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
- Egg – 2 pieces
- Plain yogurt – 360 g
- Applesauce – 165 ml
- Canola oil – 40 g
Additional:
- Brown sugar – a pinch
- Flaked almonds – 15 g
Preparation
Step 1: Combine Dry Ingredients for the Cake In a bowl, combine sifted flour with chopped chocolate. Add the remaining dry ingredients for the cake. Mix well.
Step 2: Blend Wet Ingredients for the Cake Combine all wet ingredients for the cake in a separate bowl and blend thoroughly using a blender or mixer until combined.
Step 3: Combine Wet Ingredients with Dry Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with dry ingredients and mix thoroughly using a silicone spatula.
Step 4: Bake the Cake Pour the batter into a baking tin lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle flaked almonds and brown sugar on top. Bake for about 50-60 minutes in an oven preheated to 180°C (350°F).
Tip! Towards the end of baking, pierce the cake with a toothpick or skewer to ensure it’s not raw. If the toothpick comes out clean, you can turn off the oven and remove the cake.
