Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Serve your slaw as a classic side dish with roast chicken, fish or barbecue. The creamy dressing pairs perfectly with crunchy proteins to create a harmonious balance of flavours.   • 1 (16 oz) bag of coleslaw mix
  • 2 tablespoons diced onion
  • ⅔ cup creamy salad dressing (such as Miracle Whip™)
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon poppy seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Method of preparation:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the creamy salad dressing (such as Miracle Whip™), white sugar, vegetable oil, white vinegar, poppy seeds and salt until well blended. This flavourful dressing will be the star of your slaw!

In a large bowl, combine the coleslaw mix and diced onion.

Pour the prepared dressing over the coleslaw mixture and toss to coat the vegetables.

Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or longer if you can wait). This will allow the flavours to meld and make the slaw even more delicious.

Once chilled, give the slaw a final toss to ensure everything is evenly coated.

Serve with your favourite dishes – fried chicken, fish, pulled pork or even grilled sandwiches.
