Ingredients

  • Orange – 1 piece
  • Sugar – 100 g
  • Cinnamon – 1 pinch
  • Plums – 2 kg

Preparation

  1. Prepare the Orange: Wash and blanch the orange. In a wide-bottomed pot, add the grated zest and juice of 1 orange.
  2. Prepare the Plums: Wash and pit the plums, then place them in the pot with the orange zest and juice.
  3. Cooking the Jam: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer the jam for about 1 hour (after an hour, let the plums cool, even overnight).
  4. If the plums were not very sweet, you can add more sugar. Once cooled, simmer the plums over low heat until the juice evaporates and the jam reaches a fairly thick consistency. Season with cinnamon to taste.
  5. Transfer to Jars: While still hot, transfer the jam to sterilized and dried jars. Wipe the jar rims thoroughly, then seal tightly.
  6. Sterilization: Place the jars with jam in a pot of water (the water should reach slightly above half of the jars’ height). Make sure the jars do not touch each other in the pot. Bring the water to a boil and simmer covered for about 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the sterilized jars from the pot, flip them upside down, and let them cool.
