This recipe guarantees a real breakfast. It is also very nutritious thanks to the presence of eggs. Vanilla has also been added to enrich the flavour.
Ingredients
- 4 cups of water
- 2 cups of oatmeal
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup sweetener of choice (such as sugar, honey, maple syrup, etc.)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 egg, beaten
Method of preparation:
In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium heat.
Once the water is boiling, add the oats and salt to the saucepan. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes or until the oats have absorbed most of the water and are creamy.
Stir in the liquid sweetener and vanilla extract until well combined.
Beat the egg in a small bowl.
Gradually pour the beaten egg into the oat mixture, stirring constantly to prevent the egg from scrambling. Continue to cook for a further 2-3 minutes or until the oatmeal thickens and the egg is fully incorporated.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the butter until melted and fully incorporated.
Serve the oatmeal in warm bowls.
