Start your get-together with a crowd pleaser: Jalapeño Popper Pigs in a Blanket. This appetiser combines the heat of jalapeños and the comfort of crescent rolls, all wrapped around savoury cocktail sausages. It’s a spicy, cheesy and irresistibly flaky treat that’s sure to get any party started on a high note.
Ingredients:
- 8 Jalapeño peppers, halved lengthwise, seeded and deseeded
- 4 ounces softened cream cheese
- 1 1/4 cups grated cheddar cheese
- 16 cocktail sausages
- 2 (8 ounce) packages crescent roll dough (8 count each)
Method of preparation:
In a bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese and grated cheddar cheese until well combined.
Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture.
Wrap a stuffed jalapeño half around each cocktail sausage. If the jalapeño is too big, you can cut it to fit the sausage.
Roll out the crescent pastry and cut into triangles along the perforated lines.
Cut each triangle lengthwise into two smaller triangles.
Place a jalapeño wrapped sausage on the wider end of one triangle and roll up towards the pointed end.
Repeat with the rest of the ingredients.
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
Place the wrapped sausages on a baking sheet lined with greaseproof paper.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
Allow to cool slightly before serving.
