Grilled Halloumi Sandwich

A sandwich with pita bread? In this dish inspired by Greek cuisine, it’s definitely possible! Prepare this delicious warm sandwich and try something new for your next dinner.


  • Pita bread: 0.5 piece
  • Olive oil: 4 tablespoons
  • Romaine lettuce: 1 head
  • Beefsteak tomato: 1 piece
  • Pickled cucumber: 3 pieces
  • Green olives: 4 tablespoons
  • Oil: 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili pepper: 1 piece
  • Fresh thyme: 4 sprigs
  • Halloumi cheese: 250 g
  • Black pepper: 1 pinch
  • Salt: 1 pinch
  • Tzatziki sauce: 2 tablespoons


Step 1: Grill the Pita Bread Cut the pita bread in half, then cut each half lengthwise. Drizzle olive oil over all the pieces of bread and brown them on a grill pan.

Step 2: Prepare the Ingredients Wash the fresh ingredients. Tear the lettuce leaves into smaller pieces. Slice the tomatoes and halloumi cheese, and finely dice the pickled cucumbers and olives. Crush the dried chili pepper in your hands, and chop the thyme.

Step 3: Season the Cucumbers and Olives Mix the chopped cucumbers and olives with 1 teaspoon of oil, salt, pepper, chili pepper, and thyme.

Step 4: Grill the Halloumi Grill the halloumi on a heated grill pan until it turns golden brown and crispy.

Step 5: Serve the Sandwiches On each pita bread, spread tzatziki sauce, then add tomato slices, lettuce, olives, and grilled halloumi. Serve the sandwiches immediately.
