  • All-purpose flour: 2 cups
  • Sugar: 1.5 cups
  • Margarine: 250 grams
  • Milk: 1/2 cup
  • Eggs: 4
  • Cocoa powder: 3-4 tablespoons
  • Baking powder: 1 tablespoon
  • Oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Rum flavoring: a few drops

  • Cocoa powder: 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar: 5 tablespoons
  • Heavy cream (30%): 3 tablespoons
  • Butter: 2 tablespoons

  1. Prepare the Chocolate Mixture:
    • In a saucepan, combine milk, margarine, sugar, and cocoa powder. Heat gently over low heat, stirring continuously until the mixture comes to a gentle boil. Remove from heat and allow it to cool.
  2. Prepare the Egg Whites:
    • While the chocolate mixture cools, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  3. Combine Ingredients:
    • Transfer the cooled chocolate mixture to a large bowl. While mixing, add the egg yolks one at a time.
  4. Add Dry Ingredients:
    • Sift in the flour and baking powder. Add the oil and a few drops of rum flavoring. Mix well until combined.
  5. Fold in Egg Whites:
    • Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter using a silicone spatula. This will keep the batter airy and fluffy.
  6. Bake the Cake:
    • Pour the batter into a greased and breadcrumbs-dusted baking pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (338°F) for 45-50 minutes. Once done, slightly open the oven door and let the cake cool inside.
  7. Prepare the Glaze:
    • In a small saucepan, combine all glaze ingredients. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a gentle boil. Let it cool slightly.
  8. Glaze the Cake:
    • Pour the warm (not hot) glaze over the cooled cake. Let it set before serving.
