This dish is perfect for those mornings when you want to add a touch of elegance to your breakfast table. It’s a conversation starter, a centrepiece that can turn a simple meal into a special occasion. The golden brown crust of the crescent dough, the savoury ham and the melted cheddar cheese come together in a harmonious blend that’s both comforting and satisfying.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup milk
- 4 ounces softened cream cheese
- 8 eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 4 oz cooked ham, thinly sliced
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
Method of preparation:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a bowl, whisk together the milk and cream cheese until smooth.
In another bowl, whisk the eggs and season with salt and pepper.
Heat a lightly oiled frying pan over medium heat and cook the egg mixture until the eggs are almost set.
On a lightly greased baking sheet, arrange the crescent rolls from one pack in a rectangle.
Place the rolls from the remaining pack along the edges of the two long sides of the rectangle, with the wide half of the rolls on top of the first layer and the pointed ends extending over the sides of the pan.
Place the ham in a layer in the centre of the pastry.
Spoon the boiled egg mixture over the ham and sprinkle with the cheddar cheese.
Bring the corners of the rolls together over the cheese to form a ‘braid’ shape.
Bake in a preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the rolls are golden brown.
