Puerto Rican Breakfast Custard

Puerto Rican Breakfast Custard

With just a handful of ingredients and straightforward steps, this recipe is incredibly easy to follow, making it perfect for both novice and experienced cooks. Serve it warm for comfort on a chilly morning, or enjoy it chilled as a refreshing dessert on a warm day.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups whole milk

Method of preparation:

In a large saucepan, whisk together the cornstarch, salt, sugar and cinnamon.

Gradually whisk in the milk until the ingredients are evenly mixed.

Place the saucepan over a medium heat.

Continue stirring and cooking until the custard thickens, which should take about 25 to 30 minutes. It’s important to stir constantly to prevent the custard from burning or sticking together.

Once the custard has thickened, remove from the heat. The custard will continue to thicken as it cools.

Spoon the custard into bowls and serve warm or chilled.
