Discovering new, tasty alternatives to classic dishes and sides is a truly exciting journey. One such substitute that is gaining popularity is roasted sweet potatoes from the oven. These crispy, golden, and slightly sweet pieces of sweet potatoes are perfect both on their own and as a side to various dishes.
Ingredients
- Sweet potatoes – 1 kg
- Water – 2.5 liters
- Olive oil – 30 ml
- Vinegar – 50 ml
- Salt – 3 teaspoons
- Herbes de Provence – 1 teaspoon
- Sugar – 1 tablespoon
Preparation
Step 1: Preparing the Sweet Potatoes Thoroughly wash the sweet potatoes and cut them into wedges or any other shape.
Step 2: Blanching the Sweet Potatoes Pour water into a pot and place it on the stove. Once it starts boiling, add two teaspoons of salt, sugar, and vinegar, and mix. Into the boiling water, add the sweet potatoes and cook them for 5-6 minutes.
Step 3: Draining the Sweet Potatoes Pour out the water from the pot and lift the sweet potatoes directly onto a sieve. Gently pat them dry with a cloth.
Step 4: Drying the Sweet Potatoes Arrange the dried sweet potatoes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place them in the oven for about 6-7 minutes to remove any remaining surface moisture.
Step 5: Removing and Seasoning the Sweet Potatoes Remove the sweet potatoes from the oven and transfer them to a bowl. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Wait for 10-15 minutes for the sweet potatoes to cool, then drizzle them with olive oil and season with salt and Herbes de Provence.
Step 6: Baking the Sweet Potatoes Place a new sheet of parchment paper on the baking sheet, then transfer the seasoned pieces of sweet potatoes onto it. Put it back in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes until they acquire a golden color and a crispy skin.
