As one of the few cocktails in the world, Dark ‘n’ Stormy is protected by an official trademark, and any deviations from the original recipe under the same name are not in line with the wishes of the Gosling family, who hold the rights to the trademark.
Ingredients
- Dark Rum, 40 ml
- Ginger Beer, 80 ml
- Lime Juice, 20 ml
- Simple Syrup, 10 ml
- Angostura Bitters, 2 dashes
- Ice Cubes
Preparation
Place a highball glass in which you will serve the cocktail in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice and set aside to chill. Fill a shaker with ice, pour in lime juice, simple syrup, Angostura bitters, and shake vigorously. Use a jigger or kitchen measure to measure the ingredients – this will help you maintain the cocktail recipe and thus achieve the perfect taste. Pour the cocktail into the chilled glass. Top up with ginger beer, leaving room for rum. Pour the rum slowly to create a layer on top of the drink. Garnish with a lime wedge.
