It’s not just a drink, it’s an experience. The sweetness of the watermelon, the tang of the lemon and the unique flavour of the rosemary combine to create a symphony of flavours. So let’s embark on this culinary adventure and create a drink as unique and refreshing as a summer breeze!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 sprig rosemary, leaves removed and chopped
  • 2 cups lemon juice
  • 12 cups diced seeded watermelon
  • 8 cups ice cubes

Method of preparation:

Make the rosemary syrup: Combine the water, sugar and chopped rosemary in a saucepan. Bring to the boil, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and leave to stand for about 1 hour.

Prepare the watermelon juice: Blend the watermelon cubes in a blender until smooth. Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher.

Combine and serve: Add the rosemary syrup and lemon juice to the pitcher with the watermelon juice. Stir well. Add the ice cubes and stir again.

Serve: Pour the lemonade into glasses, garnish with a rosemary twig if desired and enjoy!
