Microwave Mug Cake

This recipe is your magic wand for turning a few simple ingredients into a warm, gooey treat that’s just for you. It’s like having your own personal dessert chef, ready at the touch of a button. The best part? You can customise it with your favourite add-ins, making it a new adventure every time.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons self-raising flour
  • 4 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 medium egg
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable or sunflower oil
  • A few drops of vanilla essence (or orange or peppermint)
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips, nuts or raisins (optional)

Method of preparation:

Mix the self-raising flour, caster sugar and cocoa powder in the largest bowl available.

Crack the egg into the bowl and mix in as much as you can, but don’t worry if there are some dry ingredients left over.

Add the milk, oil and vanilla essence to the bowl and mix until smooth.

If you’re using chocolate chips, nuts or raisins, stir them in.

Place the mug in the centre of the microwave and microwave on high for 1½ – 2 minutes or until the cake has stopped rising and is firm to the touch.
