In the revival of 21st-century mixology, we’ve seen the rise of classics like the Negroni and Old Fashioned. The next great contender? The Manhattan. It’s the father of the Martinez and the grandfather of the Martini, but it’s most renowned for being the first cocktail to include vermouth in its recipe.

  • 60 ml American bourbon whiskey
  • 30 ml sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

Stir all ingredients with ice in a mixing glass and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a cocktail cherry.
