Fruit Compote

Fruit Compote

A recipe for homemade fruit compote using a mix of seasonal fruits. You can use fruits such as apples, plums, strawberries, raspberries, currants, pears, or apricots.

Ingredients

  • Mixed fruit, cleaned and pitted – about 1 kg (e.g., 3 apples, 1 pear, 200 g raspberries, 200 g plums)
  • Water – 2 liters
  • Sugar – 4 tablespoons
  • Vanilla sugar – 1 tablespoon
  • Optional: cinnamon stick, 2 cloves, mint

Preparation

To prepare, wash and cut the fruit, removing seeds and cores. Bring the water to a boil in a large pot, adding the sugar and vanilla sugar.

Add all the fruit to the boiling water. If using, add the cinnamon stick and cloves.

Simmer for about 15 minutes over moderate heat until the fruit softens.

Remove from heat and let cool for at least 10 minutes. As the compote sits, it will develop more flavor. You can add a few mint leaves if desired.
