Fish and chips

A British classic, fish and chips in a crispy duo! Karol opts for cod and sweet potatoes to prepare a simple and quick dinner dish for the whole family! Can you imagine a more English meal?

Ingredients – fish

  • Cod fillets – 4
  • All-purpose flour – 50 g
  • Sunflower oil – 2 liters
  • White pepper – a pinch
  • Salt – a pinch

Ingredients – batter

  • Curry powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • All-purpose flour – 280 g
  • Cornstarch – 2 teaspoons
  • Black pepper – a pinch
  • Light beer – 300 ml
  • Baking powder – 3 teaspoons
  • Salt – a pinch

Ingredients – sauce

  • Curry powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Red onion – 1
  • Garlic clove – 1
  • Mayonnaise – 3 tablespoons
  • Parsley – 5 g
  • Pickled cucumber – 1
  • Lime – 1/2
  • Lime juice – 10 ml
  • Worcestershire sauce – 1 teaspoon

The serve

  • Frozen sweet potato fries – 100 g
  • Lime – 2

Preparation

Combine both types of flour in a saucepan with baking powder. Add beer and mix the batter until smooth and uniform. Season with salt, pepper, and curry powder. Mix well and refrigerate to chill.

Season the fish on both sides with salt and white pepper. Gently coat each fillet with flour, then dip into the batter. Allow excess batter to drip off. Fry the fillets individually in deep hot oil until golden brown. Drain the fried fish on paper towels.

Mix mayonnaise with curry powder and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl. Add finely chopped onion, garlic, pickled cucumber, and parsley. Season the sauce with lime zest and juice. Transfer to small bowls.

Serve the cooked fish with sweet potato fries and mayo sauce immediately after preparation. Garnish the plates with lime quarters. Enjoy your fish and chips!
