Oven baked eggs


With just a few ingredients, you can create a delicious and customisable dish. Crack eggs into individual baking dishes, season with salt and pepper and bake until the whites are set and the yolks are as runny or firm as you like.


  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • 12 large eggs
  • Salt (to serve)
  • Black pepper (to serve)

Method of preparation:

Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).

Grease individual cake tins or ramekins with non-stick cooking spray.

Crack 2 eggs into each greased dish. You can break them directly into the dish or break them into a small bowl first and then slide them into the dish.

Season to taste with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on how runny you’d like the yolks. Check after 12 minutes to see if the whites around the yolks have set.

Serve immediately with extra salt and pepper to taste.

Feel free to get creative with your toppings! Here are a few suggestions:

Parmesan and fresh herbs: Try chives, fresh thyme or sliced basil.

Cheddar and pico de gallo: Add a Tex-Mex twist with a little salsa or pico de gallo.

Sauteed mushrooms and feta: Sautéed mushrooms with a handful of spinach make a flavourful combination.

Bacon or vegan bacon: Crumble some coconut bacon or shiitake bacon on top.
