Classic Club Sandwich

Every bite of the Club Sandwich offers a delightful contrast of textures – from the crunch of toast and bacon to the softness of cheese and meat. It’s a versatile dish that can be enjoyed as a hearty lunch, a light dinner or even the centrepiece of a party platter.

Ingredients:

  • 3 slices of bread
  • softened butter
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • romaine lettuce
  • 2 tomato slices
  • kosher salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 slices bacon, cooked
  • 1 thick slice cheddar
  • 2 slices turkey
  • 2 slices of ham

Method of cooking:

Toast the three slices of bread until golden brown.

Cook the bacon until crisp, then drain on kitchen paper.

Slice the tomatoes and season with a pinch of kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Wash and dry the romaine lettuce leaves.

Place the three slices of toasted bread on a clean surface.

Spread one side of each slice with softened butter.

Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the other side of each slice.

Place a piece of romaine lettuce on one of the mayonnaise-spread sides of the bread.

Place two slices of turkey on top of the lettuce.

Place a slice of tomato on top of the turkey.

Place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the tomato.

Take the second slice of bread and place it on top of the cheddar, mayonnaise side up.

Add another piece of romaine lettuce.

Place two slices of ham on the lettuce.

Place two slices of cooked bacon on top of the ham.

Place the third slice of bread on top of the bacon, buttered side down.

Gently press down on the sandwich to hold the layers together.

Use a sharp knife to cut the sandwich into quarters, securing each quarter with a toothpick if desired.

Serve your Club Sandwich with a side of crisps, pickles or a simple green salad.
