California Walnut Cheese Ball


Step into the vibrant flavours of California with this Walnut Cheese Ball, a classic appetiser that’s sure to be the star of any gathering. Combining the sharpness of aged white cheddar with the rich, buttery texture of walnuts, this cheese ball is a harmonious blend of flavour and texture.


  • 3 cups cheddar cheese (white, aged, grated)
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 clove of garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp chives (fresh, chopped)
  • 1 tbsp port (or sherry, optional)
  • 3/4 cup sliced walnuts (California, toasted)

Method of preparation:

Place all the ingredients except the walnuts in a food processor. Pulse until smooth.

Transfer to a medium bowl, cover and chill until slightly set.

Shape into a 5 inch ball or roll into a 7 x 2 inch log.

Roll in toasted walnuts to coat evenly.

Wrap in cling film and chill until firm.

Allow to warm to room temperature for 30 minutes before serving.
