Sushi Popcorn is a savoury and slightly spicy snack that’s perfect for movie nights, parties or anytime you want a unique and tasty treat. The combination of umami-rich nori, nutty sesame seeds and the kick of togarashi seasoning makes this popcorn an outstanding snack.
Ingredients:
- 2 sheets nori (dried seaweed)
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon Togarashi chilli seasoning
- 8 cups popcorn (from about 1/4 cup unpopped)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Method of cooking:
Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F).
Place the sheets of nori on a baking sheet and bake for about 5 minutes, until dry and brittle.
Allow the nori to cool, then crumble into small pieces or pulse in a food processor to a coarse powder.
In a small bowl, combine the crumbled nori, toasted sesame seeds, kosher salt and Togarashi chilli seasoning.
Mix well to evenly distribute the ingredients.
Pop the popcorn using your preferred method (stovetop, air popper or microwave).
Place the popped popcorn in a large bowl.
Drizzle the melted butter over the popcorn and toss to coat evenly.
Sprinkle the nori seasoning mix over the popcorn, tossing again to ensure the popcorn is well coated with the seasoning.
