Ingredients
Salad:
- Red chili pepper – 0.5 piece
- Carrot – 1 piece
- Vinegar – 2 tablespoons
- Oil – 2 tablespoons
- Romaine lettuce – 1 piece
- Shallot – 1 piece
- Water – 2 liters
- Fresh cilantro – 22 g
- Lime – 1 piece
- Unsalted peanuts – 2 tablespoons
- Garlic clove – 1 piece
- White sesame seeds – 3 tablespoons
- Banana blossom – 25 g
Dressing:
- Red chili pepper – 0.5 piece
- Soy sauce – 3 tablespoons
- Agave syrup – 1 tablespoon
- Lime – 0.5 piece
Preparation
Step 1: Prepare the Banana Blossom Combine water with vinegar in a large bowl. Before cutting the banana blossom, coat the knife with oil because the blossom releases a sticky sap. Remove the outer, darker leaves from the banana blossom – leave them aside for serving the salad. Once you reach the pale yellow center, remove the thicker stem and thinly slice the remaining part. Immediately place the sliced banana blossom into the water and vinegar mixture to prevent it from darkening.
Step 2: Prepare the Salad Ingredients Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet, finely chop the peanuts. Dice the shallot into small cubes. Peel and julienne the carrot into thin strips. Tear the lettuce into smaller pieces. Transfer all the vegetables to a bowl.
Step 3: Prepare the Dressing In a small bowl, mix soy sauce with agave syrup and lime juice. Add finely chopped garlic and chili pepper. Mix well.
Step 4: Combine the Salad Ingredients Drain the sliced banana blossoms and drizzle with lime juice. Then add them to the chopped vegetables. Pour the prepared dressing over the salad and mix well. Arrange the salad on the banana blossom leaves, sprinkle with sesame seeds, peanuts, and chopped cilantro.
