Pear and Parmesan Ham Carpaccio

An elegant appetizer suitable for family gatherings or sophisticated parties.


  • 1 ripe and juicy pear, thinly sliced, seeds removed
  • a few torn lettuce leaves
  • 4 thin slices of packaged Parmesan ham, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons chopped and toasted walnuts
  • a handful of seedless white grapes, halved
  • 2 – 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (preferably in shavings)
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • honey mustard vinaigrette and croutons


Use a ready-made honey mustard vinaigrette or prepare it yourself. Arrange pear slices on a platter over torn lettuce leaves. Cover with pieces of Parmesan ham, sprinkle with toasted walnuts and grape halves. Sprinkle with Parmesan shavings and freshly ground black pepper. Just before serving, drizzle with vinaigrette. Serve with croutons as an appetizer.
