A fantastic Italian meal that’s simple to prepare and delightful in taste. Orzo bolognese should be your choice for next dinner.
Ingredients:
- 300 g ground beef and pork
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 young onion
- 1 carrot
- 2 cloves garlic
- 200 g orzo pasta (1 cup, 250 ml)
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 1 can (400 g) chopped tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
- 750 ml broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
- basil
Preparation:
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large deep skillet or a wide pot with a thick bottom. Gradually add the ground meat and begin to brown it over high heat. Continue browning all the meat for about 5 minutes.
Add the diced onion and grated carrot, pour in an additional tablespoon of olive oil, and sauté together for about 1-2 minutes. Add the pressed garlic at the end.
Add the raw dry orzo pasta and sauté briefly together. Pour in the wine, stir, and let it evaporate.
Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and chili flakes. Mix well.
Pour in the hot broth and bring to a boil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook uncovered for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and has absorbed all the broth.
Remove from heat, serve portions, and top with grated Parmesan and basil.
