English Walnut Pie

English Walnut Pie

Making your own pie gives you the freedom to tweak the recipe to your liking. Want it nuttier? Add more walnuts. Want it less sweet? Reduce the sugar. Homemade cakes make thoughtful gifts that show you care. And they’re perfect for any occasion, or no occasion at all.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup light corn syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 (9 inch) deep pie crust

Method of preparation:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).

Whisk the eggs in a large bowl.

Add the sugar, corn syrup, vanilla extract and salt to the eggs and mix well.

Whisk in the melted butter.

Stir in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the walnut filling into the cake base.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).

Continue to bake for a further 35 to 45 minutes, or until the centre of the cake has set.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool.

Once cooled, the cake is ready to serve.
