Two new players have joined the growing market for portable video made popular by the PlayStation Portable game console. Apple last month unveiled a new video-enabled version of its popular iPod that features a 2.5-inch color screen. The new iPod retails for $299 for players that hold 75 hours of video content and $399 for ones that hold 150 hours.

Apple generated additional buzz around the launch by signing a deal with Disney to provide downloads of ABC and Disney Channel shows through iTunes. Shows like "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost" will be available, commercial-free, the day after they air for $1.99 per episode.

Another supplier jumping into the fray is Echostar, which unveiled its PocketDish media player. The unit can download shows by connecting to Dish Network boxes and it comes with three different screen sizes and three separate price points.
